Glenn Elting Alexander, 90, passed away peacefully in Arlington, Texas, on March 24, 2026.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:30 pm on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at First United Methodist Church, 313 N. Center St., Arlington, Texas 76011. The service will be livestreamed.
He was born on October 23, 1935, in Suffern, New York, to Frank S. Alexander and Vera S. Alexander. Glenn grew up with a strong sense of purpose and dedication that would guide him throughout his life.
In 1956, he married the love of his life, Flora Louise Shultz, beginning a lifelong partnership built on devotion and shared values. Glenn pursued his education at Purdue University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in education in 1957.
That same year, he began a remarkable 40-year career with the Boy Scouts of America. Serving as a scout executive and later contributing at the national office, Glenn dedicated his professional life to mentoring young people and promoting leadership, integrity, and service. His impact reached countless individuals and communities, and his legacy within the organization remains enduring.
Glenn was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church in Arlington, where he found joy in fellowship and music as a member of the choir. His commitment to service extended beyond his career; he was actively involved in the St. Vincent de Paul Men’s Club, offering his time and compassion to those in need.
He was also deeply engaged in fraternal organizations. Glenn was a member of the Knights Templar of Texas and achieved the distinction of a 32nd degree Freemason. Additionally, he was active in the Scottish Rite, reflecting his lifelong dedication to fellowship, charity, and personal growth.
Glenn is survived by 4 daughters, Dr. Cynthia Alexander and Leslie Day, Sandra Durant and Michael Durant, Christine Atchley, and Kathryn Alexander; grandchildren, Sondra Wilson, Zachary Johnson, Jennifer Johnson, Rachel Patituce, Jane Atchley, Avery Benza, Katherine Atchley, Alyssa Lekai, and Madeline Crabb; great grandchildren, Trenton Wilson, Samantha Johnson, Robert Rodriguez, Benjamin Patituce, Emma Patituce, James Bloomcamp, Emory Benza, Lucy Benza, and Clara Benza.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Flora Lousie (Shultz) Alexander; his parents; and brothers, Frank Alexander and Donald Alexander.
Glenn will be remembered for his steadfast character, his dedication to service, and the kindness he extended to all who knew him. His life was one of purpose, faith, and quiet leadership, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire.
