Gary Lee Mounce, 81, passed away on November 10, 2025. Born on April 5, 1944, in Sayre, Oklahoma, Gary was the beloved son of Imagene Blair. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia “Pat” Mounce, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership.
The family will receive friends from 9 am until service time on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Wade Family Funeral Home, Arlington, Texas. The funeral will begin at 10 am. He will be laid to rest next to his wife Patricia at Moore Memorial Gardens, Arlington, Texas following the service.
Gary grew up with a strong sense of integrity and compassion—qualities that came to define his life’s journey. He graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, laying the foundation for a remarkable career built on dedication, innovation, and leadership.
From March 1965 until his retirement in January 2001, Gary worked for Vought Aircraft Industries, Inc., ultimately serving as Manager of Facilities Design and Engineering. Among his proudest professional accomplishments were the design and development of the facility and workspaces for all phases of the C-17 and B-2 Bomber programs—projects that showcased not only his technical expertise but his ability to lead with vision and excellence.
Gary’s achievements were numerous. He was a declared and certified active member of the APM Industrial Engineering Honor Society. In 1988, he received the Chairman MPE MTAG award in recognition of outstanding leadership and major contributions. He went on to earn his Program Management Development Certificate in 1991. One of his most cherished honors came in 2006, when he was named Parent of the Year at Spirit of Texas—an award that reflected his deep devotion to his children.
Gary is survived by his children: Aaron Mounce; Donna Hawkins; Lois Brackett; Brittney Hiniojos; and Haley Mounce. He was a proud grandfather to Montana Boggs, Samantha Hawkins, Jadasyn Hinojos, Payton Turner, Bron Hinojos, Reagan Turner, Avery Sims, and Emery Sims. He was also blessed with two great-grandsons, Emmitt Boggs and Lawson Boggs.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Tommy and Viola Blair, his mother Imagene Blair, Aunt Peggy, Uncle Glenn, and his beloved wife Patricia Mounce.
Gary lived a life grounded in kindness. He was a man who always did the right thing—someone who would help anyone without hesitation, who never gossiped or spoke ill of others, and who offered guidance without judgment. He listened with patience, loved without conditions, and led by quiet example.
A man of many passions, Gary found joy in fishing, photographing nature, and sitting on the back porch during brewing storms. His organization skills were legendary—there wasn’t a spreadsheet or table he couldn’t perfect. He was an exceptional cook, especially with the smoker, and enjoyed building his own computers. Nothing made him happier than listening to his daughters talk for hours about anything and everything. He loved sharing laughs and stories about his best friend George—stories he carried with him until the very end.
Gary leaves behind a legacy of love, humility, and steadfast character. He touched countless lives simply by being himself. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
