Farid Aziz Kobty was born on June 1, 1945, in Palestine, and passed away on July 4, 2026, in Fort Worth, Texas.
Farid grew up in Nazareth, where he learned the value of hard work from a young age. That strong work ethic carried with him throughout his life and shaped the man he became. As a young man, Farid became a sailor and traveled the world, visiting six of the seven continents. His travels gave him countless stories of adventure and discovery, and he loved sharing memories from his many expeditions.
In October of 1973, Farid moved to the United States, where he built a life rooted in family, friendship, and hard work. He was also a talented painter and spent the majority of his career in that trade. Whether on the sea, at work, or at home surrounded by the people he loved, Farid lived with an open heart and a joyful spirit.
Farid’s greatest love was his family and friends. He knew everybody, and everyone knew they were welcome with him. If you came over to Farid’s house, you did not need to call ahead or let him know — you were always welcome. He had a gift for keeping up with people and was often the one bringing family and friends together. He was funny, laid back, and happy, and his presence made people feel comfortable, included, and loved.
Farid was a devoted sports fan and loved cheering for the local teams, including the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, Dallas Stars, and Dallas Mavericks. Of all the teams he followed, the Dallas Cowboys were his favorite. He also enjoyed Johnnie Walker Black, a glass of cognac neat, old school music such as The Beatles, and old Arabic music. He especially loved the Arabic food his wife, Hala, cooked for him.
Farid and Hala met overseas and were married on January 19, 1980. Together, they built a beautiful life and family. One of Farid’s favorite sayings was, “Dir balkami ealaa baed,” meaning “take care of each other.” It was more than something he said; it was how he lived. He reminded his family and friends of the importance of looking after one another, staying connected, and loving each other well.
Farid was preceded in death by his brothers, Fouad Kobty and Francis Kobty.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Hala Deeb Kobty; his sons, Showki Kobty and wife Stephanie, Shadi Kobty and wife Rachel, and Nader Kobty and wife Whitney; his daughter, Magidah Sieminski and husband Blake; his brothers, Faiez Kobty, and Victor Kobty and wife Nowal; his sisters, Freda Farran, and Fadia Hanson and husband Dwight; and his grandchildren, Cora, Leila, Athena, Samuel, Jackson, William, Robert, and Madeline.
