Elsie Marie Stewart, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on July 21, 2024, in Mansfield, Texas.
Born on July 13, 1934, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Johnny Robinson and Viddie Holland Robinson, Elsie lived a life full of love, wisdom, and dedication.
Elsie graduated from Booker T. Washington High School and went on to earn a degree in Sociology from Southern University. She married Chief Master Sergeant Samuel Stewart, who was stationed at Travis Air Force Base in California, and together they raised three wonderful sons.
Elsie worked as a civilian employee, retiring from Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana after 25 years of dedicated civil service. She was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and was deeply committed to her faith and her family.
Elsie was a woman of God, known for her kindness, generosity, thoughtfulness, and strong opinions. She was informed, knowledgeable, and well-read, with a sharp sense of humor and a fun-loving spirit. She took great pride in her appearance and made wise decisions throughout her life. Her proudest achievement was living independently and successfully on her own.
A devoted fan of Oprah Winfrey, Elsie cherished her large network of friends and was always dedicated to the well-being of her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Samuel, her twin sisters Annie Mae and Johnnie Mae, and her brother Dennis Robinson.
She is survived by her sons, Christopher Stewart, Theoplis “Teddy” Stewart, Byron Stewart and wife, Karen; grandchildren, Theoplis Stewart Jr., Jasmine Stewart, Tayler Stewart, Falon Stewart and Madelyn Stewart; and a host of other family members and friends.
Elsie’s legacy of love, faith, and wisdom will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
