Eleanor Marlene Smith

Eleanor Marlene Reed Smith, 91, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026.

Born January 19, 1934, in Fort Worth, Texas, Marlene lived a remarkable life rooted in family and adventure. A proud mother, she worked sparingly at Bell Helicopter while raising her two children.

Later, Marlene worked at American Airlines, allowing some adventurous travel abroad. However, most of her travel was joyfully exploring the country with her husband in their motor home and travel trailer, creating countless memories along the way.

Marlene was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W Smith, and her daughter, Darla Dickerson.

Marlene is survived by her son, Scott Smith, and his wife, Stefani; grandchildren Reed Smith and his wife, Jada Jo, and Trent Smith and his wife, Beatrice; five great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.

A memorial gathering to celebrate Marlene's life will be held on Sunday, February 22, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington, Texas 76013.

Marlene will be laid to rest with her husband of 67 years at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV.org) or a veteran’s charity of your choice in Marlene’s honor.

Marlene’s legacy of love, dedication to family, and love for the open road will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
