Obituary

In Loving Memory of Edmond Floyd Farris ("Ed") August 31, 1940 – July 4, 2026

Edmond Floyd Farris, affectionately known as "Ed," passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026, in Texas after a courageous battle with kidney disease. He was born on August 31, 1940, in Arizona to Floyd and Eloise Farris and grew up in Gardena, California, where he graduated from Gardena High School with the Class of 1959.

Ed enjoyed a successful career in the shoe industry, beginning with Flagg Brothers before spending more than 40 years with Genesco, where he retired as Vice President of Sales at Journey’s. His work allowed him to travel extensively, and he was always ready with a restaurant recommendation and a story from nearly any city.

Ed lived in California, Tennessee, and Arlington, Texas. He was known for his larger-than-life personality, booming voice, contagious laughter, and ability to make every gathering brighter. Those who knew him often say it was only fitting that God called him home on the Fourth of July—he truly "went out with a bang."

Ed is survived by his beloved wife, C.J. Farris; his son, Ken Farris; granddaughter, Mia Farris; stepdaughter, Jessica (Martin) Carrier; sisters-in-law, LaVonne Danielson and Marilyn (Phil) McGovern; his special cousin, Jimmy Farris (Jill Parsons); cousin, Dave Henard; nieces and nephews, Kirk (Joni) Wall, Jamie Wall, and Tim Wall; many great- and great-great-nieces and nephews; his lifelong friends, Bud and Mitzi Clark; his friends at Arlington Elks Lodge #2114, where he was a member for 16 years; and many other dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Eloise Farris; his sister, Judy Daum and along with his Grandparents Belle and Silas Henard who helped raise him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
