ARLINGTON -- Eddie Williams, 84, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2012, in Arlington. Memorial service: 10 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, 313 N. Center St., Arlington, with Dr. David Mosser officiating. Memorials: Memorial gifts may be made to the Arlington Rotary Foundation Webb Scholarship Fund or any area food bank. Eddie was born Sept. 6, 1927, in Dallas to Ida Mae Rhymer Williams and Marvin Estes Williams Sr. He moved to Arlington with his mother and stepfather, Dove Bird, in 1933. Eddie graduated from Arlington High School in 1944 and began singing on tour with the Frankie Masters Orchestra and later with the Henry Busse Orchestra. After graduating from North Texas Agricultural College in 1946, he opened Eddie Williams Man's Shop, which he sold in 2000. He held a lifelong passion for music, and had his own television show on Channel 5 WBAP. In 1998, Eddie was honored by the Arlington Historical Society as one of the driving forces of the 1950s, which was held at General Motors. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Arlington Downtown Rotary and the Arlington Masonic Lodge. Eddie was an avid golfer and loved his work and family. The family would like to thank the staffs of Arbrook Plaza and American Hospice for their loving care of Eddie. Survivors: Wife, Betty Williams of Arlington; son, Wes Williams and wife, Sarah, of Fort Worth; daughter, Sari Williams Moore and husband, Todd, of Dallas; sister, Sue Williams McCullouch of Dallas; and grandchildren, Taylor Williams and wife, Kelly, Chase Williams, Clay Rogers, Kate Rogers, Allison Moore and Andrew Moore.
