Dr. Robert William Mann, MD, FAAP, beloved husband, father, grandfather, physician, missionary, and faithful servant of Christ, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on May 9, 2026, in Fort Worth, Texas, at the age of 87.
Born on January 7, 1939, in Boston, Massachusetts, Dr. Mann was the cherished son of Edward S. Mann and Cora H. Mann. Raised in Quincy, Massachusetts, he graduated from Quincy Public Schools in 1956 before continuing his education at Eastern Nazarene College, where he graduated in 1960. He then pursued his lifelong calling to medicine at the University of Vermont Medical College, earning his medical degree in 1964.
On June 7, 1961, Robert married the love of his life, Angie Mann. Together they shared nearly 65 years of devoted marriage, building a Christ-centered home filled with love, faith, compassion, and service to others. Robert was a deeply loving husband and a proud father and grandfather whose greatest joy was his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Angie Mann; his son, Brad Mann and wife Karen; his daughter, Jennifer Mann Craig and husband Dane; and his treasured grandchildren, McKenzie Craig, McLayne Craig Wallace and husband Chris Wallace, and McKayla Craig; along with his great grandchildren Hallie, Lillie, and Danny Wallace. He is also survived by his brother, Richard Mann and wife Vonnie, along with many extended family members, dear friends, colleagues, and countless patients whose lives he touched over the decades.
Dr. Mann dedicated his life to caring for children and serving others with extraordinary compassion and unwavering faith. Following his pediatric internship at Boston Floating Hospital for Infants and Children at Tufts University Medical Center and his residency through the University of Vermont Affiliated Hospitals, he served as Chief of Newborn Services at Wilford Hall USAF Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.
He began private pediatric practice in Quincy, Massachusetts, before moving to Arlington, Texas, where he faithfully cared for families from 1971 to 1995. He later joined Cook Children’s Medical Center and the Cook Children’s Physician Network, where he continued practicing pediatrics from 1995 until 2025. Over more than five decades in medicine, Dr. Mann became a trusted physician, mentor, advocate, and pillar of the community. His patients and colleagues knew him not only for his wisdom and skill, but for his kindness, integrity, and Christ-like compassion.
Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Mann held numerous leadership roles and professional affiliations, including service with the American Academy of Pediatrics, Texas Medical Association, Tarrant County Medical Society, Christian Medical and Dental Associations, and the American College of Pediatricians. He faithfully served as a Trustee of Cook Children’s Healthcare System, chaired several committees, and was deeply involved in advancing compassionate healthcare throughout Texas and beyond.
His faith in Jesus Christ guided every area of his life. Dr. Mann was passionately committed to Christian medical missions and humanitarian outreach. Through Texas Baptist Men and numerous faith-based organizations, he participated in refugee medical work in Turkey, Iraq, and Albania; helped facilitate the shipment of a complete hospital to Ukraine; and supported orphan care initiatives in Rwanda. His heart for ministry and mercy reflected the hands and feet of Christ to people around the world.
Among his many meaningful contributions, one of the greatest honors was the naming of the Dr. Bob Mann Medical Clinic at Mission Arlington/Mission Metroplex, a testament to his lifelong dedication to serving the underserved with dignity, humility, and love.
Those who knew Dr. Mann will remember his gentle spirit, steadfast faith, servant’s heart, and deep devotion to family and community. He lived a life marked by grace, wisdom, humility, and sacrificial love. He leaves behind a legacy that will continue through the countless lives he healed, encouraged, and inspired.
