In Loving Memory of Dorletha Sharp November 4, 1958 – January 31, 2026

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” – 2 Timothy 4:7

With heavy hearts yet steadfast faith in God’s eternal promise, we celebrate the beautiful life and cherished memory of Dorletha Sharp, who peacefully entered into eternal rest on January 31, 2026, in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Dorletha was born on November 4, 1958, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to her loving parents, Jewel Gilmore and Bertha Kendricks. From her earliest days, she was a light in the lives of those around her—kind-hearted, determined, and guided by a deep and abiding faith in God.

She pursued higher education with dedication and grace, earning her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Grambling State University in Louisiana. Her education laid the foundation for a life marked by excellence and integrity. Dorletha went on to serve faithfully as a Loan Officer at Santander USA, where she was known for her wisdom, fairness, and remarkable problem-solving abilities. She approached her work with diligence, always striving to help others build secure and hopeful futures.

A proud member of Kappa Alpha Sweetheart, Dorletha carried herself with poise and strength, forming lifelong bonds of sisterhood and service.

Above all, Dorletha was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She was united in holy matrimony to her beloved husband, Robert Sharp, with whom she built a foundation of love, partnership, and faith. Together they raised two sons, Robert Sharp IV and Wesley Sharp, who were the pride and joy of her life. She was a loving mother and the very heart of her family—steadfast in prayer, generous in spirit, and unwavering in support.

Dorletha found joy in life’s simple blessings. She loved to cook meals that brought everyone to the table, creating warmth not just in the kitchen but in every heart present. She enjoyed watching investigation crime shows, engaging her sharp mind in solving mysteries before they unfolded. She could often be found playing golf on Wii Sports with laughter and friendly competition. Whatever she did, she did with enthusiasm and love.

She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Robert Sharp; her beloved sons, Robert Sharp IV and Wesley Sharp; her parents, Jewel Gilmore and Bertha Kendricks; her siblings, Priscilla (Sedric) Bates, Darien Cooksey, and Jewel (Don) Gilmore; her brother-in-law, Syndney Sharp; and a host of extended family members and dear friends whose lives were blessed by her presence.

Though our hearts ache in her absence, we rejoice in knowing that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:8). Dorletha’s faith carried her through life, and now it carries her home to eternal peace.

Her legacy is one of love, resilience, wisdom, and unwavering devotion to family. She taught us the importance of faith, the power of perseverance, and the beauty of serving others selflessly. Her laughter will echo in our memories, her prayers will cover us still, and her love will remain our guiding light.

Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into your rest.

Forever in our hearts.
