Doris Looney

Doris June Looney went to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, June 16, 2025, at the age of 91.

Born January 16, 1934, and raised in Arkansas alongside her two brothers and two sisters, Doris carried with her a strong sense of family, humility, and quiet grace throughout her life.

She married Bill Looney in Houston, Texas, and together they raised their family while moving to different parts of the country. They lived in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Arizona, and Florida before eventually settling in Texas, where they made their home before Bill passed away in 1983.

A devoted member of Fielder Church, Doris lived her faith in a quiet, sincere way. Her compassion, consistency, and thoughtfulness were evident to everyone who knew her. She attended church every Sunday and spent several years working the the church nursery. She treated others with warmth and dignity—an everyday reflection of her beliefs.

Doris was a lifelong sports fan who rarely missed a game, cheering faithfully for the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys. On Saturdays, she loved spending time with her church friends playing games like cards and dominos. She had a soft spot for Elvis Presley and loved listening to his music. In her later years, she especially enjoyed sitting outside in the sunshine and spending time with her beloved cat, Bagheera.

She was a devoted mother to her son, Kelly Looney, and her daughter, Linn Trice. Her greatest joy was being a grandmother to Taylor Trice, Veronica Looney, David Looney, and Tati Steinhuber. Her family will always remember her for the love, patience, and strength she offered so freely—whether through a steady presence, a gentle word, or a quiet act of support that never went unnoticed.

Doris was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Doris’s life at Wade Family Funeral Home. Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 10:00 AM.
