Dominick Angelo DeVito

Dominick Angelo DeVito, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, veteran, and man of deep faith, passed away on September 6, 2026, at the age of 97. Born on February 4, 1929, in Mechanicville, New York, Dominick lived a long and meaningful life centered on faith, family, service, friendship, and the simple joy of bringing people together.

Dominick was raised in Mechanicville, New York, where he graduated from high school in 1946. Soon afterward, he answered the call to serve his country, spending four years in the United States Army following World War II. He served with the 2nd Armored Division and attained the rank of Corporal. His military service took him to places including Mannheim, Germany, and Fort Hood, Texas, and his years in the Army remained an important and proud part of his life.

One of the greatest chapters of Dominick's life began when he met Helen Elizabeth Linehan while she was still in high school. The two met at a school dance, beginning a love story that would span more than seven decades. They were married on February 27, 1954, and celebrated their honeymoon at Niagara Falls. Together, Dominick and Helen built a home filled with love, laughter, music, faith, and family.

Before beginning his career in the hotel industry, Dominick opened a Prudential Insurance Company business in Corpus Christi, Texas. When the family later moved to Arlington, he entered the hotel industry and eventually built a successful career in hotel marketing and sales. Dominick embraced Arlington, and the family made it their home in 1967. It was there that he and Helen raised their family, formed lasting friendships, and created decades of treasured memories.

Dominick was truly the life of the party. He loved being around people, enjoyed a good celebration, and had a gift for making gatherings more lively simply by being there. He loved hosting parties in the backyard, listening to music, dancing with family and friends, and filling a room with conversation and laughter. A house full of people was exactly the way he liked it.

Family was always at the center of Dominick's world. He loved attending his children's and grandchildren's activities and rarely missed an opportunity to support the people he loved. Football was a particular favorite. He enjoyed college football, Dallas Cowboys games, UTA football, and held Arlington High School football season tickets for approximately 25 years. Holidays were especially meaningful because they gave the family another reason to gather together.

Dominick also enjoyed golf, horse racing, investing in the stock market, traveling, and spending time with longtime friends. He was part of a poker group that gathered for more than 25 years, a testament to the friendships he valued throughout his life. His travels included visits back to his hometown of Mechanicville, New York, return trips to Corpus Christi, and many other adventures shared with those closest to him.

Music brought Dominick great joy. He especially loved playing the piano, filling the house with show tunes, theater music, Christmas songs, and, on occasion, a little boogie-woogie. Music was another way he brought people together and added a little more life to every gathering.

His Catholic faith was a guiding presence throughout his life. Dominick was active at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church and generously gave his time and talents in service to others. He served as a Eucharistic minister, brought Holy Communion to those who were elderly or homebound, was active in the Men's Club and Sons of Italy, and assisted in areas of church leadership and finance. His faith was not simply something he professed; it was something he lived through service, generosity, and care for others.

Later in life, Dominick also enjoyed his time serving at Wade Funeral Home. He appreciated the opportunity to help others and especially valued the relationships and friendships he developed while serving families and working alongside the funeral home staff. It suited Dominick well-a place where his love of people, willingness to serve, and natural ability to connect with others could continue to make a difference.

Dominick was preceded in death by his parents, Angelo DeVito and Barbara Michele DeVito; his beloved wife, Helen Elizabeth DeVito; his daughter, Amy DeVito Keyser; his granddaughter, Lauren Lovas; his brother, John J. DeVito; and his sister, Angela Monaco.

He is survived by his daughters, Helen DeVito Rexroat; Julie DeVito and husband John Madden; Barbara McTee and husband Ford; Tina Fett and husband Ted Fett; and Kathleen Earle and husband Mark; honorary daughter, Beverly Ladusky; his brother, Pasquale "Patsy" DeVito; his sister, Barbara Loatman; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

As Dominick grew older, he was blessed by those who cared for him and became an important part of his life. His family is especially grateful for James Mixon, his weekend caregiver, Kevin Sherman and Lafayette Dancer, a dear friend and caregiver, for the friendship, companionship, and care they gave Dominick.

Those who knew Dominick will remember a man who was the life of the party, loved having his family close, remained interested in the world around him, and understood that some of life's greatest blessings could be found in a crowded home, a familiar song, a longtime friend, and the people gathered around him.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Sunday, September 13, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Wade Funeral Home. A funeral service celebrating Dominick's life will be held on Monday, September 14, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Wade Funeral Home, with a reception immediately following. A graveside service will take place at 1:00 p.m. at Moore Memorial Gardens.
