In Loving Memory of Delmar Bell Messer

Delmar Bell Messer, age 92, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026, in Arlington, Texas. He was born on May 14, 1934, in Niagara Falls, New York, to James Allen Messer and Minnie Belle Ferguson.

Delmar lived a life defined by faith, service, hard work, and generosity. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy, retiring with the distinguished rank of Master Chief Aviation Electronics Technician (AVCM/E-9). His military career reflected his dedication, leadership, and unwavering commitment to those around him.

Following his military service, Delmar continued his pursuit of knowledge by earning a Master's Degree in Business from Dallas Baptist University, demonstrating that learning and personal growth were lifelong priorities.

Above all, Delmar was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who found his greatest joy in his family. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Nina S. Messer; his children, Vicky (Rick) Reed, Vonnie Morgan (Bruce Cox), and Valarie (Bill) Shea. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Vanesa Hampton.

He was a proud grandfather to Catina Reed, Chris Reed, Crystal Reed, Joshua Morgan, Kelly Shea, and Kara Shea, and a cherished great-grandfather to Jayce Desplanches. His family will forever treasure his love, wisdom, humor, and the many memories they shared together.

Delmar was also preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings: Eldon, Geraldine, Joe, Jackie, Linda, and Thelma.

Those who knew Delmar will remember him for his quick wit, warm smile, and remarkable ability to make people laugh. He had a gift for woodworking and enjoyed spending hours working on puzzles. Perhaps even more than his hobbies, he loved fixing things. Whether it was repairing something in his own home or helping a neighbor with a broken appliance or household project, Delmar was always ready to lend a hand. His generosity, practical skills, and servant's heart left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Delmar's legacy is one of integrity, kindness, service, and love. He touched countless lives through his willingness to help others, his steadfast devotion to his family, and his joyful sense of humor. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Mission Arlington in honor of Delmar's life and legacy.
