Cyrus Burette Miller Jr., beloved husband, dad, grandaddy, and uncle to many nieces and nephews, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2026, in Kerrville, Texas, just 12 days shy of turning 96. He was born October 8, 1930, in Tupelo, Mississippi, to Vinita Steffey Miller and Cyrus Burette Miller, Sr. His family returned to Eastland, Texas, a short time later, where he was raised.
He married his wife of 70 years, Jenna Vee Hatton, on May 18, 1956, in Ranger, Texas, after serving four years in the USAF as military police and completing two years of college. They moved to Fort Worth, where he obtained a B.S. from UNT in Denton in 1958.
They moved to Snyder, Texas, where he worked at Cogdell Memorial Hospital as hospital administrator for 26 years, retiring in 1986. In 1997, they moved to Arlington, Texas, and he worked at UTA for 16 years. He liked working and worked until he was 84.
Cy, as most knew him, was a lifelong member of the Disciples of Christ. His longest membership was in Snyder, where he served as deacon, elder, chairman of the board, and in other capacities while there. Four and a half years ago, a final move was made to the Hill Country to remain near their daughter and son-in-law.
Cyrus was preceded in death by his parents and both brothers, Allan Miller and Fred Miller.
He is survived by his wife, Jenna Vee; one daughter, Connie Miller Hester and husband, Mark; two granddaughters, Jenna Carter, husband, Clifton, and Kellyn Ponton, husband, James; and one great-granddaughter, Brooke Carter. Four sisters-in-law remaining are Marion Miller, Dorthy Godwin, Peggy Lindsey, and Linda Young, plus many beloved nieces and nephews.
Cy is well known for always having a pocket full of Werther's hard candy. He loved to fish and play bridge, but most of all, he loved his family.
