Coreen Evanna Kinnear

January 11, 1938 — January 4, 2024

Coreen Evanna Mencimer was born on January 11, 1938, in Denver, Colorado, to Harry Edward Mencimer and Sarah Ellen Shaw. She was a Colorado girl who enjoyed deer and elk hunting with her dad, as well as Horseback riding and skiing in the Rockies with her beloved sister and lifelong best friend Diann. She met her future husband John Moody Kinnear while attending University of Arizona where she was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority. They married on November 8, 1958 and followed College friends to California starting new businesses & working in political campaigns. Sons Chris, Tim and David were soon born and Coreen became a very involved and caring mother of an active, growing all boy family. Coreen was an indispensable asset to John’s successes in business and politics as a valued counselor, keen observer and a charming gifted social ally at conventions, political rallies and hosting events that built lifelong partnerships. She organized beach camping trips for her boys, road trips, sporting events and school outings. She was a very involved mother but not to the point of interfering. Her active and athletic childhood prepared her for the unique skills of raising three boys. Loved by her 7 grandchildren, daughters in law and extended family, she loved family and dedicated her life to studying genealogy & bestowing on them the fruits of her family tree. After sending her boys to college, she graduated with a Paralegal degree and went to work at American Airlines, which allowed her to travel the globe. She was happiest being amongst her boys. Just before her passing she was surrounded by family and friends at her home watching a football game, sharing stories and smiling as her boys reminisced with her about her life and the impact she had on so many others. She was a great sister, wife, mom, grandmother, friend and a kind and gentle soul that will be greatly missed, but the legacy she leaves will always be with us.
