Clayton Leland Camp

February 13, 1928 — March 30, 2020

Clayton Leland Camp On March 30 Clayton Leland Camp entered into the presence of his Lord Jesus Christ. There will be a private burial at the Veterans Memorial Park. The date of his Celebration of Life service at Central Bible Church will be posted later on wadefamilyfuneralhome.com. Clayton was born in Paris France where his missionary parents studied French to prepare for ministry in the Central African Republic. He spent his childhood in Africa until the age of twelve when he returned to the states to attend school at Westervelt, a home for missionary children. Upon graduation, he studied at Columbia Bible College where he earned a BA in Biblical Arts. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1950 during the Korean War. He was stationed at Fort Sill in Lawton, Oklahoma as a Private 1st Class where he was an assistant instructor for the artillery. While he was stationed there, he attended Central Baptist Church where he met Loveta Sue Walker. They married on September 19, 1952, two days after he was discharged from the Army. Clayton and Sue had two daughters, Leah and Lisa Kay, and raised them at their home on Dale Dr. in Arlington, TX. Their home was always open to people for Sunday dinners, social gatherings, and impromptu visits. Clayton's dry sense of humor was enjoyed around the kitchen table. After the Lord gave him 2 grandchildren, Clayton shared bedtime stories when Maddie and Alex visited about his boyhood African adventures, including encounters with lions and leopards. The animal bedtime stories came to an end after his grandson came running into Grandad's room afraid of the lions he saw lurking behind trees in the wallpaper. Clayton had many jobs in his life, but for over 50 years his life work was centered around sharing his faith. Clayton answered Christ's calling to go into mission work in the States. Fair and Rodeo Evangelism, Inc. was the ministry where most of his years were spent. He was on the Board of Directors until shortly before his death. Many people will be meeting Clayton in heaven one day because they opened their hearts to Christ when he and other fellow believers shared the Gospel at state and county fairs, rodeos, festivals, and other exhibits, including The State Fair of Texas and The Fort Worth Stock Show. The Camp family attended Central (Pantego) Bible Church. Over the years, Clayton was a Sunday School teacher, deacon, elder, and overall servant of the Lord. During the month of March, Clayton was hospitalized, diagnosed with late stage pancreatic cancer, and sent home where Hospice Care tended to the whole family. Until the very end, he ministered to others through phone calls and visits at his bedside, praying and sharing his faith, always focusing on Jesus, not himself. We can all rejoice that Clayton is in the presence of his God he served so faithfully!
