Cheryl Jean McMurray was born on February 10, 1951, to her parents, Margarette “Cricket” Mann and Joseph Mires. She was born and raised in Everman, Texas. Cheryl was known for her strong-willed nature, always outspoken and ready to stand up for others without hesitation. She was selfless and dedicated her life to caring for those around her, including her younger siblings, daughters, niece, aging family members, and even her two granddaughters with her husband, Steve. Cheryl was the matriarch of her family and was lovingly referred to as the “oracle” for her wisdom and guidance.
She cherished simple pleasures such as family dinners, playing solitaire, doing crossword puzzles, fishing, baking special desserts, watching murder mysteries on TV, and enjoying a hot cup of coffee on the porch with her husband. However, her greatest joy was spending time with her family and reminiscing about their shared moments. Cheryl taught her family that what truly matters in life are the people you have and not material possessions. Her legacy lies in the strong family bonds she cultivated. Cheryl’s selflessness, unwavering principles, and love for others will live on through her family, which was her life’s most significant source of pride and fulfillment.
Cheryl is preceded in death by her loving eldest daughter Christy Hay, sister Judy Cruze, her parents, and grandparents. She is survived by her husband Steve, youngest daughter Tina, her husband Todd, her niece Angie, her grandchildren Lexsis, Dan, Audrey, Mason, and her Uncle Sut.
