Emblem

Psalm 23:2-3 “He leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul.”

On April 9, 1962, CD Ellis was born to parents CD Williams and Virginia E. Nichols in Lake Providence, Louisiana. CD is described as a joy who brightened the lives of others.

At an early age, he professed a hope and belief in Christ and was baptized. He joined New Hope Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorage of Reverend Gus Lee.

CD attended school in East Carroll Parish and graduated from Lake Providence High School in 1980. After graduating, he immediately enlisted into the United States Air Force where he served faithfully for 23 years. He retired from the military in 2004 as a Master Sergeant. His time in the military afforded him the opportunity to explore all corners of the world. As a well-traveled veteran, he continued his love for exploration by engaging in one fantastic voyage after another.

CD was a man who believed in working and took pride in doing his job well. At the time of his passing, he worked as a Transportation Security Manager at DFW International Airport.

CD was an avid cruiser and Stephen King fan. He enjoyed taking his wife, children, grandchildren, and other family members on cruises to enjoy his favorite activity together. In his youth, he enjoyed riding motorcycles with his friends, watching cartoons, playing video games, and drinking Tanqueray mixed drinks on a beach.

On February 17, 2026, there was an unexpected stall in his engine, one that couldn’t be repaired. He’d been fighting high winds and waves that sidelined his ship at his final port, Texas Health HEB. The Captain of all captains welcomed him with open arms as he transitioned to a heavenly cruise line with an upgraded suite not made by the hands of man.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Renee Bierschenk; mother, Virginia Ellis-Nichols; father, CD Williams, children; Cerrick Stewart, Shiquita Ellis, Jequan Ellis (Felicia), Jair Ellis (Alyssa); brothers, Ned Ellis (Demetria), James Gaskew, and Donald Gilbert; sisters: Barbara Smith (Thomas), Mary Gaskew, Amy Powell (Nathaniel), and Mamie Rowland. Grandchildren; Cerrick Jr., Ashten, Camryn, Cierra, Carter, Shi’Kayla and Jayciion; one aunt, Dorothy Patterson (Willie) and brother-in-law, Edward Hampton.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, April Ellis, sister, Patricia Hampton and brother Glen Nelson.

In remembrance of CD as he takes his final journey - “The place where you made your stand never mattered. Only that you were there... and still on your feet.” -
