Carolyn Beth Lollar Greene passed away on May 20, 2026 at the age of 88. She was born Carolyn Beth Lollar to Gordon and Bess Lollar on April 28, 1938, in Foreman, Arkansas.
Her family moved to Texarkana, Texas where she grew up with her two younger sisters, Ellen and Judy. Carolyn graduated from Texas High School in 1956. In the same year, she married her high school sweetheart Kenneth Wayne Greene before attending Abilene Christian University alongside him. She graduated in 1960 with a degree in Education and later completed a master’s degree in Education from the University of North Texas.
She and her husband spent many summers traveling to raise money for the 1965 construction of Chamala Mission Hospital in Tanzania, Africa. They settled in Arlington in 1968 where she served as the first kindergarten teacher at Park Row Children’s Center. She went on to teach fifth grade in public schools across Texas for twenty-five years. She loved to travel with her grandsons, was active in her church, and spent many years singing with the Performing Arts Department of the Arlington Woman’s Club where she gained many treasured friends. Carolyn was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a loyal friend to many who will remember her for her kind and gentle spirit of generosity.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Judy Lollar Rich; her two sons, Robert Greene and David Greene; and her husband of over 64 years, Kenneth Greene.
She is survived by her daughter, Julie Greene Singleton (husband Joel); grandsons, William and Nicholas Singleton; great-grandson, Vilimir Singleton; sister, Ellen Corlee; and sister-in-law, Marcella Weyandt. She is also survived by nephews, Joseph Groves and Matthew Groves; and niece, Cassandra Weyandt.
In lieu of flowers, Carolyn's family ask that you make a donation in her memory to Park Row Christian Academy.
