With heavy hearts and loving remembrance, we celebrate the life of Carline M. Thomas, who passed peacefully on July 6th, 2025, in Arlington, Texas, at the age of 92.
Born on Christmas Eve, 1932, in Covington, Texas, Carline was a gift to all who knew her. She was the beloved daughter of Lewis Richard Baskett and Thelma Dora Green, and the cherished sister of Ann Massey. She was preceded in death by six siblings. Carline graduated from Covington High School and later pursued college courses at Texas Woman’s University. A gifted athlete, she was awarded a full basketball scholarship to TCU—a prestigious honor she humbly declined in favor of starting her life with the love of her life, Bobby Gene Thomas.
Together, Carline and Bobby built a beautiful life filled with devotion, family, and faith. They were blessed with three children: Bobby Lewis Thomas (wife Linda), Sonja Thomas, and Jimmy Wayne Thomas, who preceded her in death (wife Sue survives). She was the proud grandmother of five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored beyond measure.
Carline dedicated 30 years of service to Arlington ISD, where she touched countless lives with her warmth and commitment. She also spent cherished time working with the Texas Rangers Baseball organization, merging her love of sports with her strong community spirit.
A true matriarch, Carline was the heart and soul of her family. Her home was filled with laughter, warmth, and the irresistible aroma of her banana pudding and Butterfinger treats—her sweet tooth was legendary. She found joy in watching sports, visiting casinos, reading, and in earlier years, horseback riding. Her deep love of country was ever-present, often wearing her patriotic red, white, and blue with pride in honor of her veteran husband.
Carline was more than just a mother, grandmother, and wife—she was the glue that held generations together. Her love was unwavering, her spirit strong, and her presence unforgettable.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 12th at 2:00 PM at Wade Family Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and honor the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.
Though Carline has departed this world, her love continues to surround us. She will be missed beyond words and remembered with deep affection, always.
"Those we love never truly leave us. They live on in the stories we tell, the traditions we carry, and the love we continue to share."
