Bettye Jean Digby Dubee
Bettye Jean Digby Dubee, 91, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 26, 2025. She was born September 16, 1933 in Bernice, La to the late John and Lois Digby.
Over the course of her life Bettye Dubee worked at a variety of jobs. But the jobs that meant the most to her, the ones at which she excelled, were wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She cherished her family, and they adored her. She and her husband Vic shared a deep and abiding love in a marriage that lasted more than 68 years, until his passing in 2023.
Bettye’s laugh was contagious, particularly after she had a sip or two of wine or a piña colada. She loved crafting and poured her love into every piece she created. She freely showered these homemade gifts on family, friends and casual acquaintances.
At any gathering you would find Bettye with a camera in hand taking pictures of those she loved. Those she loved included her cats. There were a number over the years and perhaps it was a measure of how much she cared for them that they tended to not like anyone else. Her other great passion was listening to country music, with Gary Morris and Charlie Pride being her favorites.
Bettye had a big heart, and the world is a lesser place with her passing. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Bettye is survived by her children, sons, Scott of Godley and Melvin (wife, Kristine) of Pacific Grove, CA; daughters, Vicki (husband, Allen) of Edmond, OK, and Cindy (husband, Mike) of Cedar Hill; grandchildren, Amy Eberhart, Matt (wife Jenn) Eberhart, Amber Eberhart, Morgan Eigel, Katrina Dubee and Helen Dubee Purcell (husband, Owen); great-grandchildren, Taylor and Mason Eberhart and McKena and Max Bruggner. She is also survived by two sisters, Catherine Laskowski and Linda Reneau; and one bother-in-law, Dr. Dan Reneau; along with many nieces and nephews she loved dearly.
Bettye is preceded in death by Vic, her loving husband of 68 years; two brothers, John (Bubba) and Fred Lee; and sister, Ouida.
Bettye and Vic met and married in Bossier City, LA and lived in a number of places before settling in Arlington, Texas. But retirement could not keep them in Texas, so they moved to Heber Springs, AR where Bettye loved to craft and Vic fished. Health issues brought them back to Texas to live out their golden years. Bettye will be sadly missed by family and friends whose heart she has touched in all these places.
Funeral service will be held at Wade Funeral Home, Arlington, TX on Friday, August 8. Visitation will be at 9:00AM, service at 10:00. Burial will be at DFW National Cemetery at 11:30.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bettye’s favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
