Bert Randall “Randy” Butler, age 79, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of service, devotion to family, and a lifelong love of sports and music. He was born on May 3, 1946, in Ashland, Ohio, to Bert William Butler and June Isabelle Anderson.
Randy graduated from Ashland High School in 1964, where he met the love of his life, Sandy Lee Reynolds. The two were united in marriage on February 18, 1966, beginning a devoted partnership that spanned decades. He later attended and graduated from Wayland Baptist University while serving in the United States Air Force, answering the call to serve his country.
Randy proudly served for 22 years in the Air Force, achieving the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. During his distinguished military career, he worked as a C-130 and F-16 mechanic and instructor, sharing his knowledge and dedication with those who served alongside him.
Outside of his military service, Randy was known for his enthusiasm for sports, especially golf. He was a loyal fan of Ohio State athletics, as well as the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns. He found joy in the music of the 1950s, particularly the Beach Boys and the Beatles, and his favorite color was turquoise. Randy cherished the holiday season, especially Christmas, but above all, he treasured any opportunity to gather with his family.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Bert William Butler and June Isabelle Anderson.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sandy Butler; his children, Kimberly Gutierrez and her husband David, and Craig Butler and his wife Lani; his cherished grandchildren, Kallie, Kenzie Nelson and her husband Jimmy, Tristen Watkins and her husband Clay, Tatumn, Elise, Halle, Rylie, and Brooklyn; and his great-grandchildren, Arielle, Maddox, Audrey, Beckham, Lennon, and Banks. His family was the center of his life, and he took great pride in each of them.
A service honoring Randy’s life will be held at DFW National Cemetery on May 1, 2026.
Randy will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his country, his deep love for his family, and the warmth and integrity he brought to all who knew him.
