Arnold McDonald Treadway, 98, of Mansfield, Texas passed away August 2, 2025 at home. Arnold was born May 6, 1927 in Catawba County, North Carolina to the late Johnnie Lee Treadway and Jeanette Biddix Treadway. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his dear wife of almost 62 years, Ruth, his son, William David Treadway, his brother Olin Treadway, and his sister Ilah McJunkin. He was a charter member of Northgate Baptist Church in El Paso until moving to Mansfield in 2012. He was a member of First Methodist Church in Mansfield. At age 17 he volunteered for the U.S. Navy in World War II. After the war, he volunteered for the U.S. Army Air Corps and was serving in Alaska when it became the U.S. Air Force. In 1954 he left active duty in the Air Force and went to work for the El Paso Natural Gas Company in the Accounting Department. He retired from there after 29 years. He also retired from the U.S. Navy Reserves after serving over 40 years of combined active and reserve duty. He coached his sons' little league baseball teams for sixteen years. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans. He loved cross-country road trips, especially through the Great Smoky and Blue Ridge Mountains.
He particularly liked driving on the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina. And he was an avid reader. He loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much. He is survived by his daughters Linda Clark and Diane Lindsey (Bill Glacken), his son Edward Treadway (Eva), his sister Violet Michael, ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be conducted August 15 at 10 am at the Wade Funeral Home,
4140 West Pioneer Parkway, Arlington, Texas. Burial will take place at the DFW National Cemetery at 1:30 pm, August 15. In lieu of flowers, his family requests donations be made to his favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
