Anton “Tony” Follmann Walter, 81, of Mansfield, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2026. Born on August 16, 1945, in Detroit, Michigan, Tony was the cherished son of Joseph and Brunhilde Walter.
Throughout his life, Tony embodied the qualities of a devoted husband, compassionate father, beloved PopPop, and generous friend. He is remembered for his unwavering commitment to his family and the warmth he brought into the lives of those who knew him. In 1967, Tony met and married the love of his life, Dianne Cook. Together they built countless memories and a loving partnership.
Tony dedicated over 47 years of his professional life to AT&T, where his leadership and dedication left a lasting imprint. He also served 6 years in the Marine Corps Reserves. His strong work ethic was matched only by his heartfelt dedication to his loved ones and his deeply personal faith as a Catholic. College football brought Tony great joy and, at times, frustration. He proudly cheered for the alma maters of his children and grandchildren, unless Notre Dame was playing, in which case we all became Fighting Irish fans!
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Dianne; daughters, Amy Walter Campbell and husband Steve, and Christy Walter Coleman and husband Chad; grandchildren Regan Campbell Brock (Ian), Zachary Campbell (Christopher), Brady Coleman (Ruthanne), and Haley Coleman; brother, Joe Walter (Margaret); sister, Christine Thurlow; sister-in-law, Bonnie Walter; beloved nieces and nephews; and many more family and friends.
Tony is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Brunhilde Walter.
The memories and example of a life well-lived will continue to resonate with all who were fortunate to be part of his journey.
