Ann Harper Bonner

Ann Harper Bonner, 89, of Arlington, Texas, formerly of Springhill, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026, in Arlington.

Ann was born on November 23, 1936, in Ruston, Louisiana, to Lelia Hudson Harper and C.C. Harper. She grew up rooted in faith, family, and the small-town warmth that would define her life.

A devoted educator, Ann dedicated 30 years of teaching, shaping the lives of countless students with patience, kindness, and enthusiasm. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education from Louisiana Tech University and later complete a Master's degree in Library Science from Sam Houston State University. Her love of learning never faded, and her curiosity extended well beyond the classroom.

Ann was a true people person. She never met a stranger. Whether in a grocery store line, at church, or on vacation, she struck up conversations that left others feeling seen and valued. She had a rare gift for listening deeply and making people feel special. Her warmth and kindness drew people to her, and her outgoing spirit made every gathering brighter.

A devoted Christian and faithful preacher's wife, Ann served the church with humility and dedication for many years. Her faith was not just something she professed - it was something she lived. Her steady encouragement to family and friends was simple and heartfelt: "Lean on God."

Ann loved her family fiercely. Nothing brought her greater joy than time spent with her children and grandchildren. She was a passionate sports fan - especially football and basketball - and could often be found cheering enthusiastically from her living room. She also enjoyed genealogy, taking great pride in tracing family roots and preserving family stories for future generations.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Gary Bonner; sisters, Jane Harper Tidwell and Nancy Harper Driskill.

Ann is survived by her children, Andrea Bonner and Christopher (Larissa) Bonner; and her cherished grandchildren, Collin Bonner and Dylan Bonner.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Mission Dignity, a ministry that supports retired ministers and their widows. Condolence cards may be mailed to 4301 Waycross Dr., Arlington, Texas 76016.

Ann's legacy is one of faith, conversation, kindness, and love. She leaves behind a family strengthened by her example and a community better because she was in it.
