Obituary for Edith "Ann" Morris

Edith "Ann" Morris
Edith “Ann” Morris, 73, of Arlington, Texas, passed away Monday, December 18, 2017.
Memorial Service: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, December 28, 2017 at First Baptist Church, Arlington.
Ann was born on July 25, 1944 to Lucille and Hubert Simpson in Quitman, Texas. Ann moved with her parents to Dallas where she was raised and graduated from high school. After receiving a Bachelors degree from UT-Austin, Ann became a teacher and taught for several years in the Arlington ISD. In 1967 Ann married Dr. Richard Morris, who preceded her in death, the couple built their lives and raised their family in Arlington.
Ann was a lifelong advocate for public education and a long time public servant. She was elected to the AISD board of education in 1985 and served on the board for many years. She was involved in every facet of education in our community; an AISD parent, educator, Board of Trustee, volunteer, PTA representative and a founding member of the Arlington ISD Education Foundation. She was determined to improve and create opportunities for Arlington students and to provide increased resources for our educators in the classroom. Ann also worked in the Texas Legislature for former State Representative Diane Patrick. In honor of her true legacy of community service, Ann was recognized by the Arlington ISD Education Foundation in 2016 as the initial recipient of the Foundation’s Dan Dipert Legacy Award.
Survivors: Ann is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Janna Morris, Shelly Beasecker, Tami Morris Hershberger & Chris Hershberger; the grandchildren she and her husband adopted and raised, Christopher Shipe and Jaquelyn Shipe; grandchildren Garrett Elliott, Richard Beasecker, Mitchell Beasecker, Christian Hershberger II, Hunter Hershberger and Caroline Hersbherger; and great grandchild, Christian Hershberger III.
