Condolences

Condolence From: Donna and Johnny Shook
Condolence: It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Nellie. Her brother Hank, sister-in-law Sarah, nephew Al as well as his wife (and my sister) Lou Ree and their sons Ben and Christopher always spoke of Nellie and shared family stories. The moments we spent with Nellie were filled with laughter and I know Al and other members of her family will never forget. May GOD give you peace and understanding during this difficult time. 3602

Condolence From: Sunny Greenberg
Condolence: I don't even know where to begin with this. We had so many fun (and some not so fun) times. I am going to miss talking to you and sharing all our family secrets. Nellie, you have always been such a beautiful person, inside and out, with an unending love for each and every person you came in contact with. I know that our Lord is celebrating with you and the rest of our family in heaven and that we will all be together again in His time.

Condolence From: Ellen Timberlake-Volz
Condolence: I met Nellie in 1993. She was working as the bookkeeper for Handicapped Resource Association (now known as Helping Restore Ability) and I was working part-time with the agency on fund raising projects while getting started in the financial services business. There wasn't much money floating around at the agency back in those early days, but Nellie was so organized she always managed to come up with the money to pay the attendants on time. Occasionally, she would come across a curious notation in the ledger--the initials "SB" penciled in beside some of the entries. When she inquired about it, she was told a previous bookkeeper wrote that and it meant "Should Be." We always laughed about that!

Nellie was one of my first clients in the insurance business. It was always a pleasure to drop by her house for a visit and to answer some insurance question for her ... I always had some crazy story to share about cats or some adventure I had experienced, and she was a great audience because she always laughed her head off as I recounted my wild tales.

Nellie had some pretty interesting stories herself ... I was impressed that she had been one of the famous Kilgore Rangerettes back in the day. That group of young women enjoyed the fame the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders enjoy today, but they had more mystique about them. And to think our Nellie had been a part of that! Wow!

We've been friends for such a long time and I've seen her deal with a lot of sadness in her life. But no matter how many times she was knocked down, she always got right back up and took after it again. She was the Super Glue that held it together while everybody else was falling apart. What a great lady! I sure will miss her.
