David Benson Middleton, 86, went to his heavenly reward on Saturday, September 23, 2017.
Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 28, at Kennedale First United Methodist Church, 229 West 4th St., Kennedale.
Ben was born December 23, 1930 in Fort Worth to Ruth Rodgers Middleton and Tommy Middleton and later was joined by two siblings, Tommie Jean and Joann. He grew up on the Rodgers' family farm in Kennedale, attended school there and afterwards served in the Army as an M.P. At Fort Hood. Ben married Betty Jo Tyson on May 13, 1955, and they had three daughters, Laurie, Lindy and Pat. He had various jobs as a young man but made a career with the U.S. Postal Service and was postmaster of Kennedale many years until he retired in 1992. He was given the nickname during his postmaster days of "By the Book Ben," always a man for following the rules. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather to ten, great-grandfather to twelve and cherished his entire family. He was a faithful servant of Christ and an active member of the Kennedale First United Methodist Church. He was loved by many and his life was a testimony to all who knew him. He will be missed.
